Designed for the cottage lifestyle, the Solar Energy Cabin combines solar PV off-grid electricity generation and storage with solar thermal hot water with a solar water tank integrated in one unit. The Cabin is mobile and can be moved with a forklift.
A well-made solar thermal collector can have an efficiency of up to 80 percent, making solar thermal a very efficient way to harness the sun’s energy.
Under favorable conditions, there is enough solar energy available to cover your complete water heating needs.
The cabin has the built-in solar thermal system with a 300-liter storage tank, and two solar thermal collectors with 2 kW thermal solar heat generation capabilities, enough to provide domestic hot water for a family of 4 under good sunny conditions.
The cabin also has a 3kW solar PV system built in, with the solar modules being installed separately on A-frames or an existing cottage roof, depending on local conditions. At the RET-Center, we use an existing solar carport for the Solar PV DC power side.
Inside the cabin is a pre-installed large battery bank with pure sine wave inverter, with a 4.4kW AC power supply. The Cabin provides 120V AC as well as 240V AC power level from this system and has the option to hardwire.
The Cabin has LED lightning inside and outside, and additional power outlets for convenience. The inverter has a display for power status information.
A remote monitoring system for the charge controller is optional for sites where internet access is available.
